Give Art
published on Jul 31 2009 - 11:48

Now you can give your art-loving friend an original piece without breaking the bank. Give Art, launched at the end of July, is a bespoke online gift-list service that allows family and friends to chip in for a piece of art. Here’s how it works: a gift list for the desired artwork is created, along with a personal, interactive profile page. Photographs are then uploaded and contributors can post comments and messages on the page. All these good wishes and the biography of the artist will eventually make up the pages of an exquisite hardcover ‘guest book’, which comes bundled with the artwork. Choose from paintings, photography and monoprints by artists including Jason Wee, Justin Lee, Frances Alleblas, Guy Duke, Santi Lawrachawee and Tamae Iwasaki. And if you can’t find anything that tugs at your heartstrings, Give Art can also arrange for commissioned pieces, or help you track down the piece you have in mind.

Costs: From $350-$4,000 (unframed)
